Candied Jalapeño Grilled Cheese Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)

  • 4 ounces (about 1 cup) shredded cheddar cheese

  • 4 tablespoons candied jalapeños, chopped (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prep the Bread:

  • Lay out the four slices of bread and spread a thin layer of softened unsalted butter on one side of each slice. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on the buttered side for extra flavor.

2. Layer the Fillings:

  • Place half of the shredded cheddar cheese on two of the bread slices, buttered side down.

  • Sprinkle the chopped candied jalapeños evenly over the cheese.

  • Add the remaining shredded cheddar cheese on top of the candied jalapeños.

  • Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up, to create sandwiches.

3. Grill the Sandwiches:

  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.

  • Carefully transfer the sandwiches to the heated skillet or griddle. Grill them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted to your desired level of gooeyness.

4. Slice and Serve:

  • Remove the Candied Jalapeño Grilled Cheese sandwiches from the skillet or griddle and let them cool for a minute or two.

  • Slice the sandwiches diagonally or in half, depending on your preference.
